Greetings, honoured patrons!
I'm stepping into your feed today to let you know that this will be a slightly quieter week for These Sundered Stars.
During the original run on Ko-fi, the project took a break of several weeks at this point to mark the end of the first 'Act' of the Project Centennial story, to observe the winter holidays and to figure out what could possibly come next! Thus, I've added a similar break here, though this one will be considerably shorter - the regular four weekly updates you're used to will be back on schedule this time next week.
That's not to say that you won't be getting any new content this week, however.
In line with the change in status quo seen in the story - with ex-Curator Stroth going on the run amidst a galaxy which looks to increasingly be on a war footing - the nature of the new chapters you'll receive from week to week is changing too. The 150-word forewords from the Curator previously released on Sundays as part of the Weekly Dispatch are being upgraded to 250-word diary entries published during the week, as the story focuses in more on Stroth in exile from her previous life. These diary entries will (for the time being) replace your regularly-scheduled news articles, which will in turn be shortened into a 150-word selection of headlines from around the galaxy, as part of the Weekly Dispatch on Sundays.
This is an overly complicated way of explaining that Stroth chapters and News chapters are essentially doing a switcheroo, with diary entries coming out mid-week and headlines on Sundays - for the next few months, at least. I want to reflect that the narrative is now focusing in on one particular story, while also making clear that the galaxy continues to turn and the other players are still making moves, just out of frame.
By way of introducing the new format, your next in-story update will be a Journal entry on Thursday, which will also summarise the broad strokes of everything that's happened in the story so far and give some hints at what's to come. In that sense, it's the perfect jumping-on point for new readers, so if you have friends you've been meaning to recommend These Sundered Stars to, now is a great time to bring them in! As I say, the regular schedule will resume on Monday.
While I'm breaking kayfabe, I'd also like to thank every one of you readers for your support as this project continues to evolve into something I'm really proud of. I don't want to reveal too much too early, but These Sundered Stars is about to get weird, and I'm so happy to have you all along for the ride.
Yours in curiosity,
James
