173. AlTime Reads Your Letters! 31.08.2270 edition

Dear sir,

I fear the recent devastation of Kollian marks a tragic turning point in this Conglomerate’s so-called war against the Empire of the Queil, not only because of the loss of many lives and the irreparable damage to a unique biome - though those are indeed tragic - but because it revealed to all with eyes to see that this conflict is a sham. The Queils are not our enemies; they never were! If our esteemed ministers had not bought into their own rhetoric so thoroughly, this entire debacle could have been averted. The resort worlds Orathul, Tanvar and Delephor would still be ours, we would have an ally in the Empire and, mercifully, those upstarts GLoW would not be gracing our front pages once again - except for the obituary section, I suppose.

All of this begs the question of why the Conglomerate has not yet sued for peace with the Empire, and I believe the answer is clear: they need to save face. Already we are being shown studies and polls - all entirely unbiased, I’m sure - indicating the public’s belief that war against the Queils is inevitable, and that the responsibility falls to us to leash that particular aradog before it begins to snap at the galaxy at large. While this may not be entirely untrue, one has to wonder what our esteemed ministers are covering for by pushing this narrative. A Queil-Conglomerate war seems to benefit neither party, but clearly someone, somewhere, stands to profit.

Sincerely,

Anonymous of Aglostarros
