An interstellar broadcaster generally regarded as the foremost source for news regarding current affairs, business and popular culture. Despite offering certain audiovisual resources to its base of paying subscribers, the AlTime Channel generally disseminates its content in the form of a print publication, delivered daily to readers via the Channel’s handheld devices known as ‘RE:Viewers’. The daily issues typically include headlines in galactic affairs and brief business and culture updates, with more in-depth sections such as Sport, Home and Relationships at weekends.
The AlTime Channel was originally conceived by AlKemi Inc, a pharmaceuticals-focused megacorporation and founding member of the Coreworlds Conglomerate. AlKemi bought out numerous smaller news publications to create a way by which its employees and customers could stay informed, both about AlKemi products and the business at large. As the AlKemi dispatches grew in popularity, they broadened in scope to cover first the Coreworlds and then the entire galaxy. As the corporation’s pharmaceutical interests buckled under the pressure of increased market competition, AlKemi drastically downsized and began to focus solely on its wildly successful news publication, rebranding itself as AlTime.
Due to its unrivalled reach and broad coverage, the AlTime Channel is widely accepted as speaking with unbiased authority on most matters. However, critics note a consistently Coreworlds-centric bias, exaggerated interest in scandal and fixation with the lifestyles of Aglostarros’ wealthy elite. As one anonymous reader once remarked, “AlTime stops short of causing rifts in society but is more than willing to widen those that already exist.”
