126. Uncharted Waters

Diary of Endelle Stroth - 14.07.2270

We’ve been traversing the Ele Dominion for two days, heading to some staging point on the border with uncharted space. I say “uncharted”, but any curator worth their salt will tell you that’s a misnomer. The Trifold Union calls it that because it’s territory not yet claimed by the Queil, the Ele or the steadily expanding Conglomerate Exploration Zone. Undoubtedly there are civilisations in “uncharted space” who have been charting it very well for centuries. Alas, it’s probably only a matter of time before the Coreworlds force those holdouts into the fold.

For now, uncharted space provides the perfect “back door” into the Coreworlds for Tren Krellos and I to reach Aglostarros relatively undetected. This route will present its own dangers, but it should keep us off the radars of other bounty hunters.

Krellos doesn’t say much. That’s okay with me; I’ve been using our flight time to review the latest academic journals from Aglostarros - old habits! I wish I knew what he went through in the Metanation, but he won’t bring it up. Krellos… never struck me as the reflective type, but when he does speak up, he’s particularly eloquent on subjects like the therapeutic properties of activities like gardening. Which is…

I should be ashamed. Imagine what Krellos would say, if he could read over my shoulder the way I’m describing him like a science experiment. He is a sentient being, and if I want to know more I should simply talk to him.

Easier said than done.
