Diary of Endelle Stroth - 27.06.2270
With a grim sense of inevitability, I feel the latest in a seemingly unending series of shoes is about to drop. I’ve been summoned to speak with the Ele Congregate, which is apparently the governing body of the Dominion as a political entity and, more informally, a sort of leadership for the Ele at large.
So much of the small-G government and municipal decision-making I’ve witnessed among the Ele so far has been at the local level, by telepathic consensus and delegation, so I was surprised to learn that the Dominion has anything approximating a centralised government. I suppose it makes sense, though - especially when it comes to foreign affairs or conflicts, which I fear may both soon become extremely relevant.
The Congregate’s message didn’t specify what they wanted to discuss with me, but I think I can hazard a guess. By my calculations, using the rudimentary maps and cartographical tools I was able to salvage from my (former) office at the Museum, the majority of Project Centennial’s Centurion units will have entered the Ele Dominion in the past week.
The aegis of the Ele Dominion covers half of the galaxy, so any expeditionary agents were bound to cross into it eventually. The Centurions’ pre-programmed trajectories, barring any major distractions or derailments, are such that they would all reach the Ele border (approximately) simultaneously. After that? Who knows. At best, the Coreworlds and Queil will finally learn the secrets of the Ele in full. At worst… conflict. Wish us luck.
