A social event of fundamental importance to Ele civilisation, comprising a meal shared by members of a local community. Contrary to what the name may suggest, the Feast of Elforsht is not a singular event but one observed regularly, usually weekly. For practicality’s sake, attendance to any Feast is limited to the local area, but even with this limitation, a group of feasters can range from close family or friends to apartment neighbours or even entire city blocks. In order to cater for this, many communities maintain a specific venue for the sole purpose of taking the Feast of Elforsht.
As previously elaborated by other entries in this small database, the Ele Metanation places the concept of community and the interconnectedness of all beings at the heart of the Dominion’s society. In this context, taking the Feast of Elforsht is seen as a symbolic reaffirmation of one’s bonds to one’s neighbours and to the Ele at large. As such, while attendance to the Feast is not mandatory, continued absence is frowned upon. Indeed, the more one opens oneself up to the idea of the Metanation and the Ele way of life, the more inconceivable it becomes to forego the Feast.
At the Feast of Elforsht, it is customary for attendees to each bring at least one dish, typically home-made, to be shared among the group. This is not unlike what Coreworlds citizens know as a “potluck”. However, certain staples are common to every feast, including haal juice, refels and beanbread.
