AGLOSTARROS - The saga of Project Centennial and its questionable impact on the galaxy has taken a troubling new turn, as reports flood in of Centurion drones behaving increasingly violently and erratically as they pass through the Empire of the Queil.
The Centurions, part of a 100-year expeditionary programme commissioned by the University of Aglostarros, were designed to research and catalogue everything in their path, from astronomical landmarks to flora and fauna.
However, in recent months a new pattern to the Centurions’ movements has emerged: it now seems they may be targeting Queil military assets and facilities. Furthermore, eyewitnesses say the drones respond violently when opposed, seeming to take very little damage while causing multiple fatalities and widespread damage.
Guidance provided by the University recommends that bystanders “simply let the Centurions do their job”. However, as ambassador Prince Aster commented yesterday, “the state secrets of the Queil are of no relevance to the Coreworlds and their little science experiment.”
In a rare statement, Empress Harke herself remarked that “whether through accident or intent, the actions of the Coreworlds Conglomerate have caused Queil blood to be spilled. A debt is owed; we encourage the Conglomerate to choose the nature of the repayment before it is chosen for them.”
Aglostarros has yet to issue a formal response, but sources within the University inform us that the Centurions’ capacity for violence has come as a surprise. “They were obviously engineered to survive, but we had no idea how effective they would be at hurting people.”
