A metre-long staff of lacquered dark wood, inlaid with vine patterns in opalescent golden metal which run along the length of the staff. The head of the sceptre sees the vine pattern form a spherical tree of the same golden metal, sporting fruit made from a full spectrum of precious gemstones.
The Sceptre of Viriath is believed to be the last surviving relic of the Viriath Imperium, whose territory spanned most habitable regions of the planet Orakle. Orakle was the only populated world in the Medial Ring system of Serinyr, but it was rendered uninhabitable when a nuclear cataclysm split the planet into two halves; very little now remains on the surface of either hemisphere except for rock and ash.
As a result of this devastation, information regarding the Viriath Imperium is scant. The few records recovered by ARK retrieval teams alongside the Sceptre suggest that Viriath was prosperous, if prone to frequent ideological schisms. It is possible that one such conflict was responsible for the planet’s eventual destruction.
We can infer that the Sceptre of Viriath may have been a symbol of office carried by a member of the empire’s royal family, or perhaps one of their advisors. The strange metal used in the detailing of the staff is unlike anything found on any other world to date, although further surveys of the Serinyr system have been recommended.
Archivists fear that the Sceptre may have been destroyed when the ARK station holding it was attacked by GLoW terrorists.
