A broad asteroid belt located in the Dothor star system, deep within the Drakonwing Expanse. The Dothor Lightfields are so named because of their pervasive eerie glow. Even at a substantial distance from the light of Dothor itself, the asteroids of the Lightfields were observed emitting an intense, almost constant blue-tinted illumination of their own.
Further analysis by Centurion 87 revealed that the Dothor Lightfields contain an unusually high concentration of magnesium, which burns brightly when exposed to the heat and oxygen of geysers common to asteroids of this kind. Our analysts believe this to be the source of the Lightfields’ eponymous glow, and possibly the reason why this asteroid belt never coalesced into a planet or larger celestial body.
Centurion 87’s sociological subroutines report that certain of this system’s native people, the Dothroi, consider the Lightfields to be a magical ward placed around their civilisation by the god-like being Dothor (after whom the local star is named). The Centurion was unable to find any evidence that this deity truly exists or ever previously existed, save for in the myths and scriptures of the Dothroi.
Other factions of the Dothroi take a more enterprising view of the Lightfields, and several mining companies operate among the asteroids, shipping a variety of minerals back to their homeworld of Ordoth where such resources are scarce and in high demand. This practice has naturally brought the capitalists into conflict with the more religious Dothroi, sometimes resulting in major outbreaks of violence.
